My Name Is Snickerdoodle: Offically here!

Offically here!

I think fall is here! Weather-wise and leaf changing color-wise! We've been having some wonderful gloomy rain and hail...I me crazy, but I love it. Yesterday I made some of my annual orange soup. I have been making this "soup" every year since I was 16 to welcome in the new season. Here is the recipe...

Rinds from 2 oranges
6 cups water
1/4 cup cinnamon
1 TBSP cloves
1 TBSP nutmeg
1 TBSP allspice

Simmer together in a medium pot. Keep an eye on the water and don't let it get too low. This really works with any "fall-ish" spices so if you don't have all of them, use more of one or use pumpkin pie spice. This will have your house smelling nice in no time. I know that candles work also, but this really permeates the house more and is always on hand. And of course this is not for eating!!!

And speaking of recipes, I tried a new one a couple of days ago that Ian asked me to try and has now fallen in love with. I was totally skeptical at first, but it's a favorite now that I made it twice in two days. It Paula Deen's Magical Peanut Butter Cookies. ANYONE can make this recipe! The weird thing is that there is only 4 ingredients.

1 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg

Mix together in bowl until creamy. Roll into (large walnut size) balls and then roll each ball in sugar. Dough will be sticky. Make classic criss cross with fork tines on top. Bake at 350 for 12 minutes. Makes 12-15 cookies.

Seriously delicious!

  1. Hmmm...I'm going try both these recipes! Thanks for sharing.

Speaking of the new sippy cup, I'm so glad you're loving all things baby/toddler related. Isn't it fun? My two boys are 5 and 6 years old and it just keeps getting better and better!

  2. good excuse to buy some oranges...and you know when you are done with the oranges (lemons)...if you put them in the garbage disposal and turn it on, it will leave a pleasant smell. and i'll have to try those cookies. kisses for the little man!

  3. Sounds YUMMY!! I've got to try both recipes! TFS!
