Change can be bad, but I have realized that it can be good as well. I still am not a huge fan of change, but for the first time in my life I am 99% fine with the change that is about to happen in our lives. Three weeks ago Ian was laid off from his job. It has been the third lay off in 11 months for this company so we kinda knew to expect something. When the second lay off in November happened, Ian started to put his resume out there in the hiring world. He did get some contacts and interviews, but they all offered him way less than what he was currently making. He keep trudging through still trying to find more contacts. Once January came along he didn't get any calls on anything. When his lay off happened he decided to broaden the spectrum and started to apply to jobs in Texas (where he is from, we have lived before, and some of his family is there). He had a connection with someone at his BIL's company and got a contact from them the very next day he submitted his resume. We had to hurry and find him a flight out there within 3 days. Needless to say, he didn't get the job. They hired someone else within the company, so that is a no brainer! We were both really disappointed and doubted if he should have gone out there or not. He stayed for two weeks just trying to find something! I really tried not to blog about it because we weren't sure what was going to happen. I really missed him. He finally got home Sunday night and it was so great to be together again. We just thought that we needed to stay here and tried to be positive that something good was going to come from his travels anyways. He did learn out to better his resume and give a better interview so that was good. And he did get to spend time with his family so that's always nice. (BTW, thanks to Amory and Ben for letting him crash there for so long!)
Soooooooooooooooooooo, here is where the story gets good. Monday morning at 8:00am Ian gets on the computer to start to focus on applying here again with a new outlook on everything. 8:30am he gets a call with a Texas area code. It's the same lady that interviewed him for the initial interview that he went out there for. She apologized for not contacting him sooner. She had been out of the office because she got severely sick with the flu and is pregnant on top of that. They were so impressed with Ian, his interview and his job skills that they actually created a position for him making more than he was asking for. Another reason she took so long in contacting him is that they have to get it all approved by the big wigs and all that legal stuff. We were so ecstatic that he took the job instantly. He starts at the beginning of March so I will be moving out at the beginning of April since it's such a short amount of time to try to get everything done and we can save more money this way.
I am going to miss my family and my friends here so much! I know that we will always have a chance to visit and talk on the phone so it won't be that bad. I am really going to miss being around my parents and having them see Liam grow up, but that is what a million pictures and miles of video footage are for, right? Plus the flight from here to there is less than 3 hours! We are so excited to move to Texas. We are going to be living pretty close to where we did before so we know the area. PLUS...all the Blue Bell ice cream we can stand!!! Family and friends there is a bonus, too. I don't necessarily put them in that order!
Now that we know we are moving, I made a list of things that I want to do between then and now. I will just share some of that with you...
Eat at Happy Sumo (which we checked off yesterday for lunch)
