A few years ago I told Ian that I would love for him to sing to me just like John Mayer in the morning and like Michael Buble at night. This last weekend I got to hear my "morning voice" in concert and it was simply one of the best experiences. Ian's older brother got free tickets and invited us to join them in box seats. Second best to front row!
Michael Franti and Spearhead was the opening act and their music is completely chill and gets you movin'. It was a great act because he would dance around in the audience then brought all the little kids up to the stage (who would being their little kids to a John Mayer concert is beyond my comprehension) and had them sing some songs.
THEN Mr. Hottie McHottie came on stage! Two hours of complete sing-song happiness! Between songs he would read everyone's posters that were in the front couple of rows. He did this a couple of times and by the third time I was starting to think it was a bit weird...or OCD! Until midway through his show he made up a whole song using the fans signs they made. It was awesome! He said he was waking up "Wonderland" from a nap (I guess he hasn't sung it in a couple of years) and sang it with buttery goodness. He played the guitar with a drum stick and then later on the floor. It made me think of my dad because he loves to play the guitar. He encored with the one song I was hoping to hear the most...Gravity. It made the concert for me! Ian asked me if I ever wanted him to sing to me again, now that I was ruined by John Mayer...I told him he could be my afternoon song voice! Now all I need is Michael Buble in concert and I might just be complete!
