last night when I turned the TV channel to E!. I am a sucker for THS (True Hollywood Story) even if I don’t really like the celebrity. For some reason I am a fan of true life stories, but only of celebrities. It’s my trashy-gossipy side (just a small part of me, but still there!) Last night’s episode was on the Mickey Mouse Club. They featured a bit of the first MMC but mostly focused on the 1990’s version. You have know idea how this little show consumed my young adolescent life…well, my parents do, but man…I LOVED THIS SHOW! I was a huge fan pre-…Justin, Brittney, and Christina. My best friend at the time and I would tape it every week and watch it over and over again. She was cool and had a stereo system that could record the TV sound to cassette tape so we could rock out to the songs. Watching THS made me realize how cheezy it all was, but I didn’t care. I was so enthralled with how cool I thought they all were and wanted to be a mousketeer. A couple of them broke off to make their own band called The Party. They also consumed more of my time…I mean, it takes a long time to carefully select and purchase either Teen Beat or Tiger magazine (both if I were really lucky and promised my mom that I would clean my room right when I got home), cut out each tiny picture of any or all the members of the group and add it to the current wall collage. There was a method to my teen madness and every picture had to be taped up perfectly! (Hello long sentence!) I filled an entire wall and a half of my bedroom (not to mention my closet door) with posters and pictures of them. The minute any of their albums would come out I was one of the first to buy it…or make my mom buy it rather. I was sad the day that I found out they were through, no more, gone. It was so fun to watch last night and feel like a young teenager again and get the “gossip” on what when on behind the scenes so many years later. Ian was laughing at me the whole time. I look at it like he got to know a bit more about me and why I am the way I am…well at least why I had such big hair back then, thanks to Keri Russell!
