We were blasted with Halloween fun the last few days of October. About a month ago we borrowed a cousin’s little Buzz Lightyear costume, that I knew Liam would love. He found it on the table (where I had left it) and wanted me to help him put it on….and then off…then on for the the next 4 HOURS! A sure sign for any kid that they like something, right? It was a little big on him, but we were going to make due because it was so cute! Well, my friend, Kelly, gave me a call at the end of the week. She informed me that Old Navy was having a Halloween sale and every holiday item was 2 dollars. I was excited for the news and then she follows it up with telling me that she completely cleared out all of the kids costumes. She has a sister-in-law that has a non-profit foundation that gives costumes to hospitals. She then proceeds to tell me all the different ones she got and asks me what I would like! I totally claimed the adorable monkey outfit that I have actually tried to get since Liam was born, but something else always came up. I am so grateful that I didn’t spend the full price on it since I got it for super cheap!!! I was going to save it for next year taking the chance that it would still fit. When Ian saw the monkey costume, he thought it would be more fun for Liam to be that this year for trick or treating since it fit better than the Buzz.
Liam went to a little people’s party where he went as Buzz. They decorated shirts, sang songs, played super fun games, had fabulous food and of course had trick or treating at every bedroom door! The mom’s that put it on, went above and beyond for 20 kids under the age of 3! It was great!
Friday night Ian and I had a party that costumes were mandatory, so I pulled out my old standby…Supergirl. I have had this costume for 13 years! My mom updated it for me a few years ago (longer skirt and fun red fake boots!) Ian decided to go as “Amy’s Edward”. He didn’t like my idea of him dressing as Superman then we could have gone as ‘Kissing Cousins’. I thought it was hilarious, but him…not so much! I think his costume turned out wonderful! The other party member’s costumes where fantastic as well! We had a great treasure hunt, followed by fabulous potluck goodies and of course, karaoke.
We went trick or treating with family in their neighborhood. Liam (being the two year old that he is) threw a fit when it was time to go out and didn’t want to put his costume on, but once we were out, he was all for it! Every single door he would say thank you and wave good bye! He even got some extra candy for being so adorable! Going up one street and down another took us 1 1/2 hours…little short legs….but the kids loved it! We went back to rifle through all the candy and ended the night with watching Hocus Pocus. Luckily we had that extra hour to sleep in the next morning.
Ian and I want to do something theme-y as a family next year. Good thing we have over 300 days to think about it! I hope you all had a great Halloween!
