We’ve survived!!!

Our first week home and we are doing great! Only one night of absolutely zero sleep so 6 out of 7 nights of a few hours of sleep is good. We really cannot get enough of him…tears and all. Most of the tears are mine but out of happiness. He has had a newborn checkup at the doctor’s office (who we absolutely love) and passed with flying colors. I got praise for a well fed baby! YIPPEEE!!! My chest isn’t hurting for nothing! We are basically just hanging out and waiting for the day that we can have visitors. His breathing is much better, but we want to keep him as well as possible. It still amazes me that we have a baby and completely shocks me even more still that we have a BOY! Ian teases me that I am now really far behind on my scrapbooking since all my pre-pages are for a girl. It will give me something to do in between feeding, changing diapers, rocking, bathing, changing diapers, kissing and feeding him!
Our family and friends have been such a blessing again in our lives. Ian finally finished washing all the boy clothes/blankets (6 loads) that we have recieved and between 0-6 months, we have twice as much clothes as we did for a girl. Next baby we won’t have to get a thing…whether it’s a boy or girl!
Once I get on the ball I will post some updated pictures of our little man!

Good for you! Expect to shed a ton of tears these first few weeks! Those crazy hormones made me cry at every tiny thing! But it’s so normal and sometimes it just feels good to cry for whatever reason. The first month I found is the toughest for sleep and adjusting but I promise it gets better! Once Anna was 6 weeks old, our pediatrician gave us the advice to make sure we always put her in her crib awake and let her fall asleep on her own. After two nights of her crying for about 10 minutes, she began to put herself to sleep and she’s been sleeping through the night ever since. Trust your instincts, do what you feel is best for your little family, listen to your doctor, and enjoy each moment. Suddenly Anna is almost 7 months old and she is an absolute joy… but I there are moments when I miss the tiny newborn I cuddled those first few hormonal, hectic, sleepless weeks. Blessings to you, Ian, and little Liam!

sounds like you guys are enjoying parenthood…i’m so happy for you!! dying for more pics of the little guy, though. enjoy it and there will be many more tears of joy!! savor it, because it goes by so quickly…hold him all that you can! and put him in bed with you, if he’s not sleeping…much better than you falling asleep feeding him in the rocking chair…i woke up many a night with g in my arms in the chair…not good…feed him in bed…pretty easy to do @ night…try NOT to use more than a night light too…get a bed time routine…include a book, etc. and put him down at a set time. and p.s. we rarely put g (or k for that matter) to bed awake and we didn’t have any problems.
