Is anyone old enough to remember when

you could go to McDonald’s on Halloween night in your costume and they’d give you a free hot fudge sundae?

They were my favorite.

One year, my mom had made me the best handmade SleepyTime Care Bear costume and I got hot fudge all down the front of it. She had worked so hard on it all week and I felt really bad.

She just smiled, helped me clean it off and told me Happy Halloween. A core memory for sure!

I quite possibly might be the only person who

enjoys making creepy (yet delish) foods for Hallloween AND it not be my favorite holiday.

I’m truly more of a Thanksgiving/Christmas kind of gal, but there is something incredibly fun creating some of these recipes for Halloween.

These eyeball appetizers are only three ingredients and can be made two days in advance. Just be sure to cover them well before sticking them in the fridge.

I used deli ham, but you could use prosciutto if you’d like. The trick to getting the lids just right is folding the meat in half and putting that edge facing up. (Ew, gross! I know!)

Did you see how I displayed them on my charcuterie board? You could even skewer two together and have a tray of them. Just sayin’.

This one trick I wished I had learned when my

kids were younger is to have plenty of premade breakfast foods on hand in the freezer.

And I’m talking about semi-premade. Things you can make yourself to save a bit of money in your bank account!

I’m talking homemade waffles, pancakes, bagel sandwiches, muffins, egg bites and of course these pancake sausage sandwiches. All of which I store in my freezer to heat up for a quick breakfast option.

These were an addition towards the end of last school year and were requested again this year. I tested sheet pan eggs out and I’m still working on the reheat process on those. More on that later.

But for now the homemade protein pancakes and sausage patties work out perfectly in the morning for my boys. They love to dip them in some heated up maple syrup.

These also are great on the go because we all have those crazy mornings!

All we do to heat up the frozen pancake and sausage sandwiches is open up the sandwich bag, microwave for one minute, flip it over and microwave for another 20 seconds.

gravy makes me laugh!

I know. I know. Food prepping can be the

WORST to even start thinking about.

But I’m telling you.

Your future self will thank you! If your kids are old enough, have them help.

Yes, most of them are going to be grumpy about it.

But I’d rather them be grumpy for 10 minutes once a month then grumpy every single morning when you tell them to make their lunch.

Or if you’re the grumpy one, this will prevent the scramble on those late wake up mornings.

Pinky promise!

*If your kids like condiments or extras on their sandwiches, just package those up separate so they can add them in the cafeteria. It will help keep the sandwich fresh this way.

Maybe it’s a bit too

The funny thing is, Halloween is not and has never been my favorite holiday.

Are you more of a person who will

spend time by the pool or stay in the AC when’s it’s blazing hot outside?

Texas is burning up right now and summer has just started!

My boys love the pool so I always make sure to pack snacks for all of us because trying to keep cool makes us hungry!

I love these containers because it’s one container for everything AND it keeps things separate. If you have kids you know how imperative that can be with some more than others!

They are also perfect for keeping it stocked in your fridge and you can restock or refill when needed.

Do you have a favorite way to

decompress?

Life can be crazy, full, busy, dull, drama packed and paralyzing.

Even if you have it all together, sometimes just the day to day life needs to be mixed up a bit.

I really enjoy random art projects. I’ve recently started a paint by numbers, but also love the simplicity of this drag paint technique to create a “masterpiece”.

Whatever you do to decompress, I sure hope you have fun with it!

Have you ever just thought that maybe

one day candy will just taste gross then you won’t want to eat it anymore?

Yah. Me neither.

I actually was not a huge fan of fruity type candy when I was a kid. I was all about the chocolate!

For some reason, my taste buds have changed and I love candy candy.

I just discovered @wileywallaby licorice and can’t get enough of it! The watermelon one is my fav.

And I forgot about them for a bit, but just got back into Haribo gummy cherries. Those are quite addicting.

When summer started I

sat down with my boys and asked them to pick a day where they would be completely screen free.

Tuesdays it was!

There are days where we are on screens for hours and then there are days where we are playing friends, swimming at the pool, creating flip books, making Lego castles, cleaning out closets, doing yard work, baking in the kitchen and just being plain bored.

The secret to creativity comes from boredom! Buts it’s also okay to be on screens, too, sometimes!
