The Best Snickerdoodles EVER!

I’m sure it’s a big no-no in the food blog world, but I just can’t help myself.  I have been going back with some my favorite recipes and taking updated (and severely better) pictures.  I make my Snickerdoodles at least once a month and this last weekend I whipped up a double batch and shot away.  And you’ll see that I had a fabulous assistant help me out!

This recipe is especially my favorite because of my nickname sake and the reason I named my site what I did.  You can find out more about that HERE

No joke when I tell you these cookies have a special moist power!  They are slightly chewy on the outside and completely moist on the inside…for days!!!  You know when you sometimes make cookies and the next day their texture changes and they get a little crumbly and dry?  Not these!

Lately, I have been seeing a few pins out there claiming to be delicious Snickerdoodles.  No doubt, I’m sure they are good.  But, why have good when you can have the BEST?!  And I won’t judge you when you eat more than one…or six!

Makes 2 dozen

Cookies
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 3/4 cups all purpose flour

Sugar Sprinkle
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3/4 tsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  In a small bowl, mix together Sugar Sprinkle mixture.  Set aside.  In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, shortening and sugar for 2 minutes.  Add in eggs and mix until well combined.  Blend in cream of tartar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and flour just until incorporated.  Take 2 TBSP of dough and roll it into a ball.  (I use a 2 TBSP cookie scoop for ease).  Roll each ball in the sugar sprinkle and place 12 on a cookie sheet.  Lightly press down on each cookie with the flat bottom of a cup or your hand.  Bake for 7-9 minutes.
