These Muddy Buddies come together with just a handful of ingredients and are always one of the first treats to disappear. Christmas Magic Bars also have few ingredients and everyone loves the. Christmas Sugar Cookie Puppy Chow
You might also know Muddy Buddies as Puppy Chow! They’re the same sweet and crunchy cereal snack that everyone loves. Traditional Puppy Chow is made with chocolate and peanut butter, but this Christmas version uses white chocolate, vanilla and almond extract for that delicious sugar cookie flavor. Don’t forget all the colorful sprinkles, too!

And can we talk about the sprinkles? The combination of red, dark green, light green and light pink makes these extra festive and pretty!
Ingredients You’ll Need For Muddy Buddies
- Rice Chex Cereal: The crispy base that holds all that delicious coating.
- White Chocolate Melting Wafers: I love using Ghirardelli because they melt beautifully and create a smooth coating.
- Salted Butter: Adds richness and helps the white chocolate coating come together.
- Pure Almond Extract: Just a little gives these that classic bakery-style sugar cookie flavor.
- Pure Vanilla Extract: Adds even more of that sweet Christmas cookie flavor.
- Vanilla Powdered Sugar: I use Whipzi Vanilla Powdered Sugar for an extra touch of vanilla sweetness. You can use regular powdered sugar as well.
- Christmas Sprinkles: A combination of red, dark green, light green and light pink sprinkles makes these perfect for Christmas. You can find all of the colored sprinkles here.

How To Make Christmas Cookie Muddy Buddies
Pour the Rice Chex cereal into a very large mixing bowl.
In a separate microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and stir in the vanilla and almond extracts. Add this mixture to the white chocolate melting wafers.
Microwave in short 10-second intervals, stirring between each one, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
Immediately pour the melted white chocolate over the cereal. Add the Christmas sprinkles and gently toss everything together until evenly coated.
Sprinkle the vanilla powdered sugar over the cereal and toss again until every piece has that delicious sweet coating.
Allow the Muddy Buddies to cool completely before serving.

My Best Tips
Work quickly! White chocolate begins to set as it cools, so have your cereal and sprinkles ready before melting.
Fold gently. Use a large spatula to carefully toss the cereal without crushing those crispy pieces.
Use festive sprinkles. I love mixing different shades of red, green and pink. Save a few to sprinkle over the top before the chocolate sets.
Let them cool. Spread the finished Muddy Buddies onto parchment paper to cool completely before storing.
These Christmas Cookie Muddy Buddies are such a fun treat to package in little cellophane bags, tie with ribbon and give to neighbors, teachers or friends. They’re also perfect for setting out in a big bowl during Christmas movie night.
