I just discovered this recipe about two months ago and have made it 4 times since then. So easy and so delicious! I am sure most of you have a version of this recipe...so why didn't you share it with me???! I found it here where they called it a Hootanany Cake so there you have it...name it whatever you want just as long as GOOD is in the title!
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1 cup flour
( I also added a good pinch of sugar)
Preheat oven to 400º. Place 6 TBSP of real butter in a 9x13 pan. Place in oven to let butter melt. In the meantime, mix remaining ingredients in a blender. Pour batter into hot melted butter and bake for 15-20 minutes. It will puff up so don't be worried. Cool slightly, cut into squares and serve with maple syrup or berries. Top off with powdered sugar!
Do you remember Pudding Pops as a kid? They were right up there with B i g S t i c k s in my book! They were discontinued for quite a few years and now they are back. However, they are pretty expensive and since we are on a budget and I like a challenge (mostly food challenges...not life challenges!) I thought I could just make them myself. I have had these popsicle molds for years and they have been good to me. Even better that I bought 5 sets for a $1 each at Target! I made these for about $.12 each! (I got my jello on sale!)
1 4oz. box of pudding (your favorite flavor)
2 cups cold milk
Whisk together until just incorporated. You want to be quick with this next part because you don't want it to set up in the bowl. Using a measuring cup (for an easy pour) fill your molds to the top and snap on your lid/stick. Freeze for 5-7 hours.
*You can also use small paper cups and popcicle sticks if you do not have molds. Just freeze your mixture for about an hour before you place the stick in the middle. You can also use two different flavors (I had vanilla and chocolate on hand, but I think banana and chocolate would be divine!) Mix up your first flavor first and pour into mold until half full. Freeze for one hour and then mix up your next flavor and fill the rest of the way up.
So if you feel like your life is not complete without popsicles molds, here is your chance to win some. They aren't fancy, but they sure are fun. I have enjoyed them every summer for the past 7 years!
**Leave me a comment of what your favorite summer food is....slushes, pasta salads, grilled meats or vegies...my personal favorite is ice cold watermelon! If you can, I would love it if you would share the recipe as well! I will pick a winner Tuesday (the 9th) morning so you have until Monday at midnight to enter!
